Board Games
Playing Board Games is a family activity that has been a little lost in recent years. But rest assured, Time Machine Hobby is bringing them back. In this age of digital media, video games, and the internet, quality family time has been pushed aside. We sell board games that encourage families to play together in a fun and educational manner. So, next Sunday night, plan a "Game Night" at home, and spend some quality time with the whole family.
Role Playing Games
Role playing games (RPG's) are social games of imagination using elements of storytelling, acting and war gaming. Each player takes the role of a heroic character, somewhat like a star in a book or a movie. A multitude of choices include a mighty warrior, a powerful wizard, or a space explorer. Each person teams up with other players to play in ongoing adventures, defending foes, gathering treasure and overcoming challenges, while growing in power, fame, and other achievements.
One player is the referee (Usually called the Game Master, or the Dungeon Master), this person sets up the adventure (From a published source or from his/her imagination) and describes the setting. The players can do anything to react to the situation. The Game Master narrates the action, controls the adversaries and challenges. Dice are often used to determine success or failure. The Game Master's job is not to compete with the other players, but to set the stage and bring nearly endless possibilities to life within the framework of the rules.
Other Notes:
Starter sets - Complete rules with a selection of peices and/or cards providing enough play.
Booster sets - (or a pack) additional, usually randomized, items for expanded game play. These optional items increase variety and depth of play.
Miniature Gaming
Miniature Gaming is a tabletop hobby using miniature figurines in battles either recreating history or in imaginary worlds of fantasy or science fiction. Game surfaces can be a simple sheet of paper or an elaborate board with foliage, structures, and landscapes. Many of these games have unpainted pieces requiring some basic assembly. A trend in recent years is the availability of pre-painted fully assembled game pieces.
